Mexican authorities have arrested an Argentine man in connection with the killing of a musician and his family, an attack that local media report was linked to a dispute over Bitcoin. The suspect was apprehended after reportedly dining at a restaurant following the incident, according to La Nación.

The multiple homicide took place in Mexico, as reported by La Nación. The news outlet states that the aggressor allegedly committed the crime over “Bitcoins” before going to a restaurant. The suspect, who reportedly presented himself as a businessman, was later taken into custody.

Clarín reports that Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office has revealed details about the accused, including a background involving fraud, debts, and threats. The suspect is an Argentine national, a fact confirmed across multiple reports from Clarin.com, Infobae, and Diario Río Negro.

Infobae adds further detail on the suspect’s behavior after the alleged crime, noting that he went out for dinner and detailing what he did with the pistol. The victim was identified as a keyboardist for the band Camilo Séptimo.

The case has drawn attention to the suspect’s prior legal issues. Diario Río Negro reports that the Argentine man was already under investigation in a separate fraud case. Additionally, tn.com.ar states that 11 people have claimed they were defrauded by him, an antecedent that complicates his position in the current murder investigation.

Authorities continue to piece together the motive and the suspect’s movements. The coming weeks will likely focus on the fraud allegations and how they may relate to the events leading up to the killings.
